Fishing Report 6/19-6/25

For this past week of fishing, we have been hitting the Striped Bass fishing hard in the river. The bite has exploded and we are starting to see some really nice-sized fish come out of warm water. Lots of the fish we are catching in the river are covered in sea lice, which is a great sign as these fish probably just migrated into the river and are there to chow down on all the bunker we have to offer. Water temperatures in the river are around 70 degrees give or take depending on how far up you plan to travel. Another big change from last week is the variety of baits we are having success on. Earlier in the season we relied on live bunker to get us through the day as it was the most productive bait to catch, but we are now seeing flutter spoons get crushed by big bass as well as a variety of soft plastics and artificial lures. Right now is some of the best fishing that I have seen in the river. Striped bass are still being caught in the Western end of Long Island Sound, so hopefully, the bite remains somewhat consistent over the following weeks. Stay tuned for next weeks report! #Twenty4SevenGuide
